Shut up in Yoruba means, “Gbé ẹnu rẹ sọún” or “dakẹ ẹnu rẹ“. This is the same way to say “Be Quiet” in Yoruba.

You can also translate shut up/be quiet to Yoruba by saying, “gbẹ’nu ẹ dakẹ.”

Pronunciation of gbé ẹnu rẹ sọún: gbay-eh-nuh-reh-soh-uhn

Pronunciation of dakẹ ẹnu rẹ: dah-keh-eh-nuh-reh

You can also say, Gbé ẹnu ẹ sọún. The “rẹ” in both statements can be replaced with “ẹ”. So, you can say, “da kẹ ẹnu ẹ’.

Example:

Meaning: Shut up! What is always wrong with you?
