Meaning of Owó ní kókó

Owó ní kókó is a popular Yoruba expression.

Owó means Money

Ní means “Is” in Yoruba,

Kókó means “Point” at least in this context of use. (The word “Koko” means different things in Yoruba. This is just one of its meanings.)

So, when you combine all that you see that the meaning of Owó ní kókó is, “Money is the point”.

It is an Expression used to explain that Money is very important and is the point of all forms of hustling. Davido, Popular Nigerian artiste, named one of his singles Owo ni koko. This further gave the expression more popularity.

Example:

1. Wo o! Owo ní kókó jère! Má lọ suwẹgbẹ.

Meaning: Look! Money is the point! Don’t go and be slow.
