In Wizkid’s popular song titled “Soco”. He said the following popular line, “gbefuń mí lọpọ..” right?
You note that L’ọ́pọ̀ is a combination of two Yoruba words, “Lí” And “ọ̀pọ̀”. The word “Lí” is also known as “Ni”. They both mean the same thing in Yoruba language. Though “Li” is more old fashioned.
So, what’s the meaning of L’ọ́pọ̀? Or Lokpo?
First off, The correct spelling is L’opo not Lokpo.
The meaning of L’opo/ Lokpo in Yoruba is, “In plenty/ in abundance”.
Li Means, “in”,
Ọ̀pọ̀ Means, “plenty/abundance”.
Pronunciation of L’opo is: luh- kpuh
There is no consonant like “kp” in Yoruba language. So, “Lokpo” is a wrong spelling of L’ọ́pọ̀.
