Ìyáńláyà/Ìyá nlá ìyá- Here’s The Meaning

Ìyáńláyà when you split it is, “Ìyá nlá ìyá”.

If you live in Lagos or any South Western state in Nigeria, then you know this expression is mostly associated with curses.

It is used when a curse swearer wants to call the great grand mother of the person they are cursing or annoyed with. They can say, “Ìyáńláyà ẹ!!”. That literally means “Your Great grand mother!”. That’s not cool right? Yeah.. it’s a curse Expression and is very derogatory.

So, ìyáńláyà means, “Great Grand mother”.

Example:

1. Wọn ǹ bí ìyáńláyà anybody da, kó wá gbé kíni yìí níbi!!!

Meaning: They haven’t given birth to the great grand mother of the person that will carry this thing from here!!!
