Gbóná fẹlifẹli or gbono fẹlifẹli?

There is significant difference between Gbóná fẹlifẹli and gbono fẹlifẹli.. This short post is dedicated to clearing that up.

Gbóná fẹlifẹli means, “Steaming hot”, WHILE,

Gbono fẹlifẹli is not correct in Yorùbá language. There is nothing like “Gbono” in Yoruba language. The correct pronunciation and spelling is “Gbóná”.

Gbóná Is a combo of two Yorùbá words, “Gbó” and “Iná”. “Gbó” means “to last in something/to spend a long time in something”. “Iná” means “Fire”. So, Gbóná means “Hot”. Gbono is not a Yorùbá word but rather a misspelled version of Gbóná.
