Gbéra-Meaning of Gbera- Yoruba Common Expression.

You are here because you searched for the meaning of Gbéra right? Gbéra is a common Yorùbá word and expression that means, “To get up” or “To move”.

Gbéra is very commonly said in Nigerian Afro pop music where music artistes use the Word in their lyrics frequently. The term Gbéra became popular in 2017 when popular music artiste, Small Doctor had a hit song titled “Gbéra” released in 2017. In the lyrics of the song, Small Doctor said “Aja 1, Gbéra! Aja 2, Gbéra!..” Since the song became a hit, the word Gbéra gained more use and popularity in the average Nigerian’s vocabulary especially that of Yorùbá youths. 

The meaning of Gbéra is “To Get up”, “To set off on a journey” or “To start To move”.

So, example of the usage of Gbéra in a sentence is;

  1. Ọkọ ayọkẹlẹ tí a wọ̀ tí gbéra.. (Meaning-: The vehicle we boarded has set off/moved)
