If you’ve ever lived in Yoruba land, you would have heard the question “Bá wo ní” very frequently. Let’s break the expression down;
Bá wo means “How is/are”,
Ní means “It”.
Combining all that, the meaning of Bá wo ní is “How is it?” Or “How is everything going?”. But it is not only restricted to those meanings alone. “Ba wo ní” is frequently used to ask a person how they are in Yoruba land. Bá wo ní could also mean, “How are you?”
Ọrẹ mí! Bá wo ní gbogbo nnkan? (My friend! How is everything going?)
