Ṣánáwọ́lé/ Shanawole- Meaning

Shanawole is a Yoruba popular slang mostly used in hip hop songs and in the vocabulary of touts as well.

Ṣánáwọ́lé means, “to light up a match and come inside“. This is the literal meaning. When Yoruba People use it though, it means a completely different thing. It means, “to turn up for a party”.

Pronunciation of Ṣánáwọ́lé: sha-nuh-wuh-lay

Example:

1. Ọmọge, jẹ ká ṣánáwọ́lé!

Meaning: Fine lady, let’s turn up for the party!
